Since 1985, a serial killer has claimed the lives of at least eleven people in Los Angeles. The murders have been linked by DNA and/or ballistics. The unknown male killer dumped the bodies of his victims along Western Avenue in South Los Angeles. Among his victims were drug users and prostitutes. He would often dump their bodies in alleys along the corridor in Inglewood.
The latest murder, that of 25 year-old Janecia Peters on January 1, 2007, was conclusively connected to the others by DNA analysis just five months later.
The press has dubbed this serial killer the "Grim Sleeper."
The killer targets black females. One of his victims was a fourteen year-old girl. He has also killed a man, also black.
